Connect Groups
are Key to Nurturing and Caring for Church Members.
ARE YOU
CONNECTED YET?
Connections is a new and exciting ministry at Winder First UMC.
Beginning in April, our church is implementing an important ministry to
help us better nurture and care for one another. Each active
member (attended 12 times during the past 14 months) has been assigned
to a connect group which will consist of approximately 10-12 families
and a lay pastor. We gage attendance through the pew pads and
Sunday School attendance sheets which are entered in our membership
program each week. Twenty-five committed lay pastors have attended
the weekend training sessions and are excited about meeting the people
they will be serving. Some lay pastors are serving as a husband
wife team.
Your
lay pastor will contact you to introduce himself/herself and get to know
you better. You lay pastor will have his/her unique style of
caring for your group and will be available, check on you regularly
(once a month) to see if you have any needs or concerns and support and
pray for you.
As
Christians, on of our most important responsibilities is to care for
God's people. Winder First is a church of approx. 1400+ members
and in a church this size we must intentionally focus on caring for each
other in order to be successful in this ministry. We will all have
times in our life when we will need a strong shoulder to lean on, an
encouraging word, or helping hand. Through these connect groups
our church family will be strengthened and effective!
If
you have any questions, please feel free to contact one of us.
Thank you for your time. When your lay pastor calls, please let
them know how much you appreciate their willingness to serve.
